What is a Neo Traditional tattoo?
A neo traditional tattoo is of a similar style to traditional western tattoos but the subject matter isn’t limited to anything, any subject you want can be done in neo traditional style, bright colours behind a bold crisp black line make the image pop.
When Ed Hardy took the traditional tattoo and added his own style and elements of Japanese tattoo imagery, other tattoo artists followed suit, throughout the years it evolved into neo traditional tattoos.
At the time of traditional tattoos there were limited colours that could be used and shading was flat, now while still using the classic style and elements of the same imagery, a neo traditional tattoo uses colours and shading that make the tattoo feel more alive and realistic without losing that traditional feeling.
